The government shutdown effects all of us but none more so than the federal government workers who are not receiving a paycheck. Some Capital Region restaurants are doing what they can to help.

If you, like the some 800,000 American federal workers, have been more than inconvenienced by the current government shutdown there are some restaurants right here in the Capital Region who are looking to ease your wait if only for a meal.

Avery's Country Kitchen which specializes in Soul Food at 92 Second St. in Albany has got you covered for breakfast and is serving up comfort food like omelets, pancakes and egg sandwiches for any one with a federal I.D Tuesday through Friday.

Romano's Macaroni Grill is takes on lunches. Just bring your federal I.D. in and you can get a free Mom’s Ricotta Meatballs + Spaghetti between the hours of 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

According to WYNT Avery's Country Kitchen has you covered on the weekends too as long as the shutdown continues because well, you don't just need to eat during the work week.

There are actually a couple of other businesses offering discounts and freebies around the Capital Region as well if you need something to do while you are laid off or could use some additional assistance while the shutdown drags on which you can check out here.
