I had to ask the pharmacist the difference between the two, and I could not believe his response.

So I was at Walgreens the other day to pick up some ibuprofen because, well, I'm finding that the aches and pains are happening a bit more frequently nowadays. So naturally I'm looking for a bigger bottle so I don't have to go back to the store for awhile because I HATE shopping, of any sort really.

Now this stuff is not cheap so I'm perusing my options and I come across two generic bottles: both are 200mg ibuprofen and both have 500 pills in them. The labels read exactly the same except one is blue and reads "like Advil" while the other is orange and reads "like Motrin." The pills in both the bottles are the same as well, except one bottle has orange pills and the other has brown pills.

However, the price for the bottles is different by $2 and I'm reading the labels and cannot for the life of me figure out the difference between the two. So I asked the pharmacist:.

Me: "Can you please tell me the difference between these two products?"

Pharmacist: **examines both bottles & labels**

Pharmacist: "The color."

Seriously? I couldn't help but roll my eyes and scoff. How can companies keep doing this to people? Selling the exact same product in different colors and charging different prices. It's like the pink tax (where companies sell the exact same product, one in blue for men, and one in pink for women, only the pink packaging is significantly more expensive) except they don't even bother to try to convince you that there is reason for it. There really needs to be some sort of regulation on this or something.

Moral of the story: pay attention to what you are buying and what other products are available. There is no reason you should be giving these huge companies any more of your hard earned cash than you need to.

Your move Walgreens.
