Seriously, the second most popular Halloween candy in our state has really got me questioning their numbers here...

So the good people over at Candystore.com recently pulled all their data from over the last 10 years or so in order to uncover which Halloween candies each state was consuming (or at least purchasing) the most. They even checked with some of the major candy manufacturers and retailers they work with to make sure that their calculations were as accurate as can be and the results might surprise you.

I didn't grow up in New York so maybe that is part of my surprise at the second most popular candy in the state. However, I can recall a large number of people that I know that have lived in New York their whole lives that have expressed their distaste for the candy. So without further ado ...

Coming in as the #1 most popular Candy in New York State ... Sour Patch Kids. New Yorker's legit bought 200,008 pounds of those sour and sweet gummies. Now that I can get Sour Patch Kids are awesome and I'll totally have to put that on my list to hand out this year.

Rounding out the top 3 in New York is Reese's Cups selling 56,776 pounds. I can't really argue with this one because lets be honest, unless you have a peanut allergy, you can't go wrong with a Reese's Cup.

However, what I have a hard time buying is that New Yorker's bought 44,516 pounds more of freaking Candy Corn than Reese's Cups. Selling a whopping 101,292 pounds. I'm feeling like this may have more to do with the fact that Candy Corn is probably significantly cheaper than many other candies (which by the way have got awfully expensive recently) than it actually being one of our "favorite" Halloween candies. Don't get me wrong I don't mind Candy Corn but I haven't met many people who were a fan.

What do you think about the most "popular" candies in New York? What is your fav? Let us know in the comments! You can hover over any state in the map above to find out the favorites across the rest of the country.
