Spelling a bunch of words that I've never heard of, let alone spell, a 7th-grader from the Shenendehowa School District will rep the Capital Region in the Scripps National Spelling Bee.  The local finals were Tuesday night and it featured young spelling virtuosos from all over the Capital Region, but in the end, there could only be one to advance.

A current NBA player and former Shen basketball standout had a surprise moment following his game last night when his boyhood idol did something he could only dream about.

Here's an update on the Albany dog named Copper who can sing and talk!  The date his episode of 'World's Most Amazing Dog' will air has been set and let's hope this good boy advances past the quarter-final round.  He'll be that much closer to $100K and the title of Worlds's Most Amazing Dog.

My 3-year-old son has been a champ using his potty lately at home and at daycare and I didn't want to break the momentum yesterday, but  when I took him to a basketball game at the Times Union Center all hell broke loose.  When he told me he needed to go pee, I proudly took into one of the bathrooms, but was clearly ill-prepared for what to do once we got there.

While rest of us are trying to train our dogs to not pee on the carpet or jump on the furniture, one local woman's dog is speaking English and says things like 'I Love You'! You have to see the video of Copper to believe it.

When I was in middle school, it was a chore to get me to clean my bedroom let alone the bathroom.  To be honest, it still is.  Major props to these local middle school kids who brought a little hard work and creativity and worked together to give their school a cool looking bathroom makeover.

Our January Hometown Hero was slightly taken aback when we called the other morning. Moments after identifying ourselves the first thing she responded with was 'How can I help you?'
