Whether you've had your first sip of a pumpkin spice latte or heard the crunch of leaves as you walk, by now you should be getting in the fall season spirit.

But what's fall without a pumpkin?

Several Albany-area patches are offering a pumpkin-pickin' experience ripe for the whole family. You can grab one to make a pie, another to get a head-start on your Halloween Jack-o'-lantern—or if pumpkins aren't your thing you can at least mow down on some fresh apple cider donuts.

Here are a few places to pick pumpkins locally and events they have coming up this season:

Indian Ladder Farms (Altamont)

Indian Ladder Farms will kick off its Pick Your Own season in October, where visitors can test their strength by picking the heaviest pumpkins the patch has to offer. Picked pumpkins will be priced by the pound.

Goold Orchards (Castleton)
Goold Orchards offers pumpkins for patrons to pick each year to compliment the orchard's annual apple picking operation. The farm is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Bowman Orchards (Rexford)
Bowman Orchards has got 98 acres of land growing fruits and vegetables for picking. Pumpkin picking starts at Bowman in late September and continues through mid-October.

Liberty Ridge Farm (Schaghticoke)
This farm is so into pumpkins, they even have Spookley the Square Pumpkin serve as the Liberty Ridge mascot. The farm will start its Fall Festival on Sept. 21, which will run through the end of November.

Ellms Family Farm (Ballston Spa)
The Saratoga County farm not only offers pumpkins for you to pick yourself, but also picks pumpkins for you if you're just looking to pick your pumpkin from a farm store. Ellms is open through Oct. 27.
