So incase you have yet to hear, Capital Region rocker Moriah Formica was chosen to be a contestant on this season of NBC's 'The Voice'. Moriah blew away the judges on the show during the blind auditions by belting out her rendition of Heart's 'Crazy On You'. All four judges turned their chairs leaving Moriah with the difficult task of picking which judge she wanted to be her mentor. Moriah ultimately chose to go with #TeamMiley which by the end of the blind auditions ended up being the first all female team in 13 seasons of the show.

This week was the first week of the battle rounds where they partnered each contestant up against another member of their team and with the help of their mentor (in Moriah's case Miley Cyrus) and a special guest mentor (Billy Ray Cyrus) they learn to arrange and sing a song as a duet together. The only catch is that they would be performing this duet in front of the judges and their mentor would have to pick one to stay in the competition and one to go home. You can find out how Moriah's battle round went down below.

This morning Moriah Formica was gracious enough to stop by the Q studios at a ridiculously ungodly hour (because you know, high school) to chat with me a little bit about her experience in the battle rounds. We talked about what it was like to go head to head with someone she had grown close to, who she doesn't want to have to battle against, what happens in the next phase of the competition - the knockout rounds, and so much more! We get a little chatty when we get together. You can listen to our full conversation below.
