If you have ever traveled in Clifton Park to go to a show at Upstate Concert Hall or to bring the kids to Clifton Common sports fields, you know that particular area is very congested. Construction has begun to alleviate the problem. According to News Channel 13, construction has begun to build a two-lane roundabout at the intersection of Route 146 and 146A. After a study declared it a high accident area, and extremely congested, plans were drawn up to construct the new traffic circle.

A two-point seven million dollar project began Monday that will use federal Highway Safety Improvement Program Funds. The project begins on the Visher Ferry side of Route 146 so be prepared for stop and go traffic in that area during construction. The two-lane roundabout will also include lanes for bicycles and pedestrians.

Although I am not a fan of roundabouts, mainly because drivers aren't sure how to navigate through them, I think this one will help curb accidents in that high congested area in Clifton Park.
