Neighbors helping neighbors, this is what it is all about.

After a fire on Remsen St. in Cohoes completely destroyed three buildings and damaged nearly 30 others earlier this month neighbors from Cohoes and all over the Capital Region have been rallying together to help the victims of the fire and to raise funds to help rebuild Remsen St. to all it's glory.

When we were out broadcasting live in Cohoes collecting funds for the victims just after the fire happened the outpouring of support coming from their neighbors in Cohoes, former residents, and really from all over the Capital Region was enough to move you to tears. Since then, there have been quite a few fundraisers set up to help out.

Over the weekend the Cohoes Strong fundraiser at the Cohoes Bowling Arena went down and according to News10 that one event alone managed to raise a grand total of $25,243 to help the victims of the Remsen St. fire.

It's very reassuring to know that we live in a community that is willing to lend a hand in the event an absolutely devastating tragedy such as this occurs especially around the holidays. I for one am excited to see Cohoes rise and recover from the ashes.
