The FBI has released crime date in Upstate New York, and several Capital Region are among the most dangerous.

Compiling recently released FBI crime data from 2017, New York Upstate has ranked the 30 most dangerous cities in Upstate New York and 4 Capital Region cities have landed on the top half of the list. Albany (#8), Schenectady (#9), Troy (#10) and Hudson (#13) all are among the most dangerous according to the report.

New York Upstate only ranks cities with a population of 5,000 or more and the scores are based on violent crimes and property crimes in each city. Niagara Falls landed at #1 on the list and Buffalo at #2.

Unfortunately, in bigger cities like Troy, Albany and Schenectady it seems crime will always be present. Living in several similar-sized cities in the Northeast over the years, I can tell you it is pretty much common everywhere.
