I know it's summer, but the cold weather will be here before you know it.  And, it looks like there are going to be some major renovations happening in Lake Placid.

For the first time since the 1980 Winter Olympics, the Lake Placid Olympic Center is going to getting a major upgrade.  By major upgrade, we're talking about $100 million going towards the project.  According to News Channel 13, the venues for figure skating, hockey and speed skating are all going to be upgraded, as well as possibly the area overlooking the speed-skating oval and Main Street.

Lake Placid is a big Capital Region destination in both the summer and winter.  I for one spent a large portion of my life there, as someone who grew up ski racing and was an NCAA Alpine Ski Racer.  So I am SO excited to see these facilities getting an upgrade.  As a young athlete, having these kinds of facilities in the state to train and use are priceless, and here's to having people be able to use and enjoy them, and athletes being able to compete in them, for many years to come!
