Back in 2013, 20th Century Fox tapped Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow to write the screenplay for an X-Force movie, but when Tim Miller’s Deadpool concept footage “leaked” online, Fox fast-tracked the Merc With a Mouth’s solo film and put X-Force on the back burner. We still don’t know much about the movie — is Wadlow also directing it? Which characters will be included in the lineup? Will familiar X-Men characters appear? — but new concept art may give us an indication of where Fox is headed with the project.

ComicBook.com found this concept art from Gregory Semkow, which was created in collaboration with Wadlow and features the lineup from the X-Force screenplay — though it’s unclear if the screenplay has changed (or will change) since Semkow’s involvement. As you can see in the artwork below, the Wadlow’s X-Force lineup includes founding member Warpath, team leader Cable, Domino, Cannonball and Feral:

Warpath was portrayed by Booboo Stewart in X-Men: Days of Future Past, but we’re not sure if Fox will have Stewart reprise the role for X-Force or if they’ll re-cast the part, similar to what they’ve done with Colossus in Deadpool. A quick breakdown of the characters, for those unfamiliar with them: Warpath is a super-strong Native American, Cable is the son of Cyclops, Domino is a marksman (think Hawkeye) with the ability to alter probability in her favor (and has been romantically linked to Cable), Cannonball can create force fields and fly at jet speeds, and Feral is a mutant with feline qualities who has been portrayed as both a hero and a villain in the comics. In Semkow’s concept art, Feral looks more like Rogue than her comic book counterpart.

Fox hasn’t announced a release date for X-Force yet, and their upcoming schedule is pretty full right now, with Deadpool arriving on February 12, followed by X-Men: Apocalypse on May 26, The Wolverine sequel on March 3, 2017, Gambit sometime later in 2017, and another untitled X-Men project in 2018.
