Bull's Head Inn may be old, but it wasn't always haunted.

Cobleskill NY's oldest building, Bull's Head Inn, was founded in the early 1800's, but didn't start exhibiting any ghostly activity until well over a century later. So, what set it off?

If you're not a drinker, you may never experience the Inn's most notable apparition. See, Mrs. John Stacy, the ghost that famously haunts Bull's Head Inn, was a notorious member of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The activity really flared once the Inn started serving alcohol in the 1960's.

As if the newly-acquired liquor license wasn't enough to fuel the fire, the bar area was actually built in the ex-union-member's former bedroom. Yikes.

The building is over 200 years old, and it has survived catching fire twice, during two different U.S. wars, served as town hall, and an inn. Who would have thought, of all things, a liquor license would be responsible for this place's haunted reputation?

Mrs. Stacy has been seen around the inn wearing a white gown, and her favorite things to do are: fling napkins and silverware, slam doors, and flicker lights. If you want to keep Mrs. Stacy at bay, best to skip the after dinner drinks this time around.
