For fans who have been waiting patiently for Netflix's Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life to premiere, one of the most torturous elements of waiting has been wondering what ultimately became of Stars Hollow's nearly star-crossed lovers, Lorelai Gilmore and Luke Danes.

While we still have a few months to go — the special four episode sequel series will hit the streaming service on November 25 — thanks to Scott Patterson, viewers can rest easy with the confirmation that Lorelai and Luke (Loreluke? Lukelai?) are very much still an item.

Speaking to PEOPLE, the actor, who plays the owner of Luke's Diner on the beloved show, revealed that despite not being allowed to share too much about the upcoming revival, he could confirm that his and Lauren Graham's clearly meant-to-be characters are romantically involved. (Insert your sigh of relief here!)

"I can tell you that we are together," he told the magazine while in attendance at Kiehl's National LifeRide for amfAR celebration in New York City. "We are together and we're sort of figuring out our next step."

Patterson also confirmed that the Netflix revival will pay an emotional tribute to the late Edward Herrmann, who played Rory's beloved grandfather Richard Gilmore on the show and who tragically passed away after suffering from brain cancer in 2014.

"Losing Ed, it left just a gaping hole and it was so tragic and so shocking to lose him," the actor explained. "But as far as the storytelling was concerned, it really deepened the scripts and affected the tone of a lot of it, and especially our characters and how we related to one another...Fans are going to be very touched by how Amy has shown her respect and paid her homage to him."
