Not only can you skate for FREE but registration is now open for the learn to skate or play hockey clinics.

Now that Thanksgiving is over it's time leave fall behind and get into the winter festivities! One of my favorite things to do here in the Capital Region in the winter time is take full advantage of the Empire Skate Plaza!

In case you have never been, each year when it starts to get chilly the Empire State Plaza drains it's ponds with the exception of one which they turn into the Empire Skate Plaza. Where you can ice skate seven days a week from 11am to 8pm (with the exception of 3-4pm when the rink is closed for maintenance) for FREE!

Bring your own skates and you are good to go. If you don't have skates don't worry they have rentals available for $4 for adults or $3 for kids 12 and under. Or you could go on a Friday when the skate rentals are FREE!

If you don't know how to skate they do offer a series of learn to skate clinics as well as a few try hockey for free sessions. Registration is required and the clinics do tend to fill up fast so if you are interested you might want to look into registering now. You can do so by clicking HERE.
