It's always cool to hear references to the Capital Region in TV and movies and recently Reddit started a thread. Did you know all of these?

Someone in the local Albany Reddit asked about Albany references in either television, movies, or books (aside from the common "Steamed Hams" joke that circulates - don't ask). It's weird to think that out of the entire country, all of the cities and towns, that a book you're reading or tv show/movie you're watching would have anything to do with the Capital Region. Here's when they did:

  • In the show "Archer," they mention taking a train from Schenectady to Albany up what we know as the trainless Kings Rd.
  • "The Office" mentions a branch of Dunder Mifflin in Albany.
  • Of course, in Law and Order being filmed in New York City, every so often one of the criminals is from up here.
  • Apparently, the Marvel character Doctor Octopus is from Schenectady.
  • It is rumored that the Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons is supposedly based off the owner of Earth World Comics in Albany.
  • Grace from "Will & Grace" is from Schenectady.
  • David Spade's character in "Just Shoot Me" was from Albany.
  • Albany circa 1754 shows up in the video game Assassin's Creed Rogue
  • In the show "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," Captain Holt mentions driving up to Saratoga Springs.
  • In "House," they visit a potato gun tournament in rural Schenectady.
  • In "American Dad," the main character is following his favorite band and says “I just have to get backstage tomorrow night in Albany.”

There are more listed on the thread and I'm sure there are some that they missed. What are some TV, movie, book, etc references to the Capital Region that you know about that I could add?
