Design and Construction teams from around the Capital Region have come together to build some pretty fun and creative displays out of canned goods to collect food and raise awareness for The Food Pantries for the Capital District!

The 7th Annual CANstruction exhibit is now on display at the New York State Museum! This year 16 design and construction teams from around the Capital Region participated in the annual fundraiser.

That connects talented architects, engineers, contractors, and students to imagine and create colossal structures built completely out of canned food items. All while raising awareness of food insecurity in our region while highlighting the local talent of design firms

I got an invite to the CANstruction Reception last night and got to meet some of the amazing people that put in some serious work on this exhibit to make some pretty creative displays and of course I got to check out the fruits of their labor. While 16 teams participated this year I did learn that unfortunately there was one casualty before the exhibit could open so only 15 will be on display.

This years theme is "Go Team" and you can check out all of the displays on the museums 4th floor terrace now through March 22nd which will also give you a chance to give back! Bring in some cans from your cupboard and show some love to your favorite display by placing them in the donation bins in front of it and your favorite may just win the coveted People's Choice Award! At the end of the exhibit all of the cans in the displays and in the bins will be donated to benefit the food pantries.

Also, did you know that there is a carousel on the museums 4th floor? I didn't, but I made sure to take full advantage! While you are there you might as well take a ride, I recommend the teacup.
