5 Summer Fun Activities in the Capital Region for Kids
We're sure at one point or another this summer, the words, "I'm bored" will be heard. So, in the hopes of keeping you from pulling your hair out trying to think of ideas about what to do for the day, here is a list of some things to do around the Capital Region that will be just as fun for you as they will be for the kids.
Hosted by Rollerama in Schenectady, this camp is available for children from first to sixth grade, and has not only the obvious roller skating, but a ton of other fun activities like arts & crafts, science experiments, and kickball. It goes from late June all the way to late August, and you can find out more on their website.
2. The Theatre Institute at Sage
The Theatre Institute at Sage is a great place to bring your kid(s) if you're looking for a little live action. They have different plays often, and they are currently doing a play called Backbeard The Musical about a hairy pirate who gets an interesting makeover. They also offer a summer camp, which you can find out about here, as well as find more information on their plays.
3. Great Escape
This one is a capital region staple, and it's great because there is plenty of stuff for the whole family here. Whether you like water parks, roller coasters, or just playing games, Great Escape is your one stop getaway for a hot summer day. Daily tickets can be as low at $47, but you should also check out their season pass deals.
4. Children's Museum of Science and Technology
This museum is located right here in Troy, and will provide a whole days worth of fun for the kids. There are tons of things for them to look at and play with here, without you worrying about having to tell them not to touch things. Bonus- They too provide a couple of camps for different age groups.
5. Howe Caverns
This place is really cool, especially if you're interested in science, or nature, or just having fun, really. They have tours of the caves that run just about all day, and they recently added something called Howe's High Adventure, which you can find out all about here.
