Yes this is a real thing and no it's not what you're thinking. 

There was a point in time where vampires were all the rage. People were reading Anne Rice novels, watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and wishing they were either the vampires from those or at least had the chance to meet one of them.

Now it's 2024 and are people still into vampires? Did those horrible Twilight movies kill the vibe? Maybe they aren't as apparent in media but vampires are 100% still a thing. People live their lives as vampires and everything. There are even beauty procedures that are named for the mythical monsters of the night.

No, immediately no. It is not what you're thinking. It's also not like the opening scene from Blade in the club when it starts raining blood on them. Though, admittedly, that would be pretty cool.

Known as vampire facials, they are technically PRP treatments. That means Platelet-Rich Plasma injections. The purpose of them is to stimulate healing and enhance repair in certain areas. Now the PRP facials are said the have anti-aging properties. Oh, and they use your own blood. Here is this definition:

Remember that part I told you about the spa being licensed? That's important because again, injecting blood into yourself.

There is a disturbing story out of New Mexico where three women underwent these vampire facial procedures and now have HIV. The spa they went to was unlicensed. After an investigation they found that the spa had reused medical items that were intended for only one time uses. It makes me wonder if there are more people out there infected that might not know it?

So please, be very careful if you're going to get one of these because your health is at risk. Put it in the hands of people who are compliant.
